Masterchef Challenge 2010 exceeded the expectations of the harshest of critics with curry entrants expressing authentic flavours from all over the subcontinent. The winning curries were prepared by the Cutherbertson and the Michael familes who battled it out in a fierce sudden death Masterchef pressure test. However, in the final analysis there could only be one victor, with the Michaels taking out the adult and children's competition. It was a great event filled with great food and great fun!
Stay tuned for the winning recipes and your chance to try the winning curries out for yourselves. To see other great memories from the day click here.
As a new church we definitely have a lot of firsts. Our involvement in this year's RunMelbourne was such a great event that we think it will be a permanent fixture on our church calendar. What a great start to the day - it may have been chilly but the sun was out, the atmosphere was buzzing and there were lots of smiles to be shared. It was a great way to join with the rest of our city to raise funds for various causes. This year The Age reported record donations in excess of one million dollars all going to great causes around the city, nation and the world. We're already making plans to how we can contribute more to this great event in 2011.
What better way to celebrate the Chinese & Vietnamese New Year than with great friends and great food? February 14th brought in the Year of the Tiger with great celebrations in the city of Melbourne and we were there to make sure festivities carried on getting together over an exotic meal in a great restaurant in Richmond’s Victoria St.
2009 brought many iconic memories. In Melbourne and throughout Victoria many were touched by the devastating bush fires that we now call "the Black Saturday" fires. Stories flooded in of the utter destruction felt as a result. Christmas is a time for giving, so at Oxygen Church we decided that every little bit helps and decided we could help a family affected by the fires to have a better Christmas. The family of four were given an assortment of personalised Christmas goodies to not only take the pressure off putting on Christmas day on but to let them know that they’re not alone on this special day.
Everyone loves a great accompaniment to their tea or coffee. In Melbourne we pride ourselves on our epicureal standards, so we decided to see exactly who made the best Bannoffee Pie. There were pies of all shapes, sizes and degrees of finesse. With that much toffee being eaten it was just as well the competition was healthy! With extra food competitions for the kids, there really was something for everyone. But there could only ever be one winning pie. Our Masterchef champs Sarah and Nigel Keegan were treated to Melbourne's famous Brunetti’s Cafe.
